First Ever - NASHVILLE JAZZ NIGHT Comes to Music City Roots

Music City Roots: Live From The Loveless Cafe is excited to announce its first ever show devoted to the best of Nashville’s vibrant jazz scene. The acclaimed weekly live radio show, webcast and concert series will offer a bill featuring the city’s most visible and innovative musicians working in America’s greatest and most sophisticated branch of roots music.

The lineup includes:

* Jeff Coffin & The Mu’Tet ~ Widely known for his work globally with Bela  Fleck & The Flecktones and The Dave Matthews Band, saxophonist Coffin is the most recent Music City artist to make the cover of the prestigious DownBeat magazine. The hook: Into The Air, an acclaimed new album that harkens back to the 1970s jazz/rock fusion era of Weather Report. The band includes Felix Pastorius on bass and Roy Futureman Wooten on drums and percussion.

* Rahsaan Barber & Everyday Magic ~ He’s a Nashville native son who grew up with, trained with and played with his equally fantastic twin brother Roland as The Barber Brothers. Now Rahsaan leads his own straight-ahead jazz band and his own label/promotion company Jazz Music City. He’s a champion of the scene and a master of the saxophone.

* Annie & The Hot Club ~ Annie Sellick is one of Nashville’s artistic treasures – a native daughter who kept her voice and inimitable style here in Music City. The Hot Club of Nashville is our signature string jazz band, with unparalleled mastery of Django and hillbilly jazz styles.

* Ryan Cavanaugh & Tyson Rogers ~ Bela Fleck pointed the way on jazz banjo. Ryan Cavanaugh ran down that road and set up a good size town on the frontier. The young artist/composer takes a break from world tours and jamming with New York’s finest to duo up with Music City’s daring, distinct and dynamic piano and electric keyboard player Tyson Rogers.

* David Jacobs-Strain ~ The folk blues had to happen before jazz had a chance to grow out of it. MCR friend and fine fellow DJS joins us on a jag from Oregon. He’s a stunning acoustic guitarist with chords ideas that will make the jazz cats take note.

Doors at 6 pm. Show at 7. Ten dollars to the public.
