Rutherford County Law Enforcement Names Officers of the Year
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- Rutherford County’s law enforcement community gathered in Smyrna this week to name and honor its Officers of the Year.
The luncheon and awards ceremony was held at Smyrna Town Center on Monday. The annual event is sponsored by the regional Crime Stopper’s program.
The officers recognized include Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Scott Miller, Smyrna Police Officer Gary Schoon, La Vergne Police Sgt. Bob Hayes, Murfreesboro Police Officer Terry Spence, Sheriff’s Detective Steve Craig, and MTSU Police Officer John Blair.
During the ceremony, Major Clyde Adkison of the MPD noted that anonymous callers to the Crime Stoppers phone line have been a remarkably effective crime fighting tool.
“We have solved in excess of 975 cases. We have arrested out of that over 321 suspects, and total dollar recoveries in recovered stolen property and wholesale value of narcotics is in excess of $1,200,000.”
Major Adkison says Crime Stoppers of Rutherford County will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2014.
