Nationwide Test Will Run for a Full Three Minutes

Unusual Emergency Alert System (EAS) Test Today

A nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System will take place today.

State and federal authorities are partnering to conduct the test this afternoon at 1 pm Central Standard Time.

The test will be aired simultaneously on every radio and television station across the country, as well as cable and satellite channels.

Today’s test will be unusually long, lasting a full three minutes.

Some television stations will apparently give no on-screen indication that the test is, in fact, a test. So you might want to alert family and friends that an EAS test is being conducted today.
