Warm, Wet Weather Could Lead to Flooding

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  The National Weather Service office in Nashville says we could tie  some long standing temperatures records this weekend. Localized flooding is possible early next week.

Weather Service Meteorologist Bobby Boyd says the next few days are going to be unusually warm and wet.

“We’re looking tomorrow at near the record high of 72 degrees. That would tie the record that was set back in 1890. Then on Saturday we’re expecting, looking at maybe a high near 75 if we get some sun out. We might make that. That would tie the old record of 75 also set back in 1890.”

Boyd says the mid-state got about an inch of rain overnight Wednesday, leaving the ground saturated with more rain on the way.

“We could be looking at some pretty good rain amounts on Sunday that will continue in to Monday and possibly even in to Tuesday. So we could be looking at some flooding as we get into the weekend and first part of next week.”

Enjoy the warm weather while you can. Boyd says colder, more typical winter temperatures will return late next week.
