Nashville’s Moon Taxi Headlines MTSU Homecoming Concert Oct. 2

Moon Taxi helps MTSU celebrate homecoming

Nashville-based rock group Moon Taxi will headline a special homecoming concert with support from Space Capone and DJ KDSML in the MTSU Student Union Ballroom on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m.

Doors for the show, which is being produced by Raider Entertainment, will open at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are available now at http://www.mtsu.edu/events. Student tickets are $10, and general public tickets are $15. Students may buy one guest ticket at the student rate and must accompany the guest to the door for verification.

MTSU’s Todd Art Gallery Offers Showcase of Beginning student Works

MTSU Foundation Showcase 2013

MTSU’s Todd Art Gallery is featuring the work of beginning fine arts students with a special exhibit, “Foundations Showcase 2013,” which runs through Thursday, Oct. 10, on campus.

Artwork from students in the Department of Art’s Drawing 1, Drawing 2, Two-Dimensional Design and Three-Dimensional Design classes is on display in Room 224A inside Todd Hall weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Art professors Charles Clary and Meghan O’Connor are curating the student exhibit.

Some Seats Still Available in MTSU's Tucker Theatre for 'Les Misérables'

Some tickets are still available for this week's MTSU Arts production of the Oscar- and Tony-winning musical “Les Misérables” in Tucker Theatre. 

Performances are scheduled Thursday-Saturday, Sept. 19-21, at 7:30 each evening, and one matinee is planned at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22. You can buy tickets online at http://www.mtsuarts.com or at the Tucker Theatre box office.

General admission tickets for “Les Misérables” are $10 each. MTSU students, faculty and staff with valid IDs will be admitted free.

MTSU Celebrates Constitution Day with Readings, Debate, Voter Registration Drive

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (MTSU-Communications)  --  Middle Tennessee State  celebrated the 226th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution  on Tuesday, Sept. 17, with a focus on voter registration as well as multiple daylong readings of the document. 

MTSU observes the Constitution’s 1787 signing every year with special events and programs organized by the university chapter of the American Democracy Project.

Sony Music’s Gary Overton Will Speak at MTSU on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 5 p.m.

Sony Music Nashville chairman Gary Overton will speak at MTSU on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. in LRC 221. The event is free and open to the public.

Overton, who is one of the Department of Recording Industry’s most successful graduates, is the first speaker in the Recording Industry Department’s new Chair’s Speakers Series.
