Chinese Manufacturing Now Less Competitive

Jobs Shipped Overseas Rebounding to Middle Tennessee

A LaVergne company is among a small number of manufacturers starting to bring jobs back to America from Asia.

The reversal is the result of the booming Chinese economy losing some of its competitive cost advantages.

Four years ago, Pro Charging Systems of LaVergne outsourced manufacturing of several key components of its new line of battery chargers to China, including a plastic battery cover.

The company recently awarded that business to Pine Hill Plastics, a small manufacturer in McMinnville.
