On the heels of his momentous Avery Fisher Prize win last month, Jeremy Denk performs Bach’s Goldberg Variations and selections from Ligeti’s Études in London’s historic LSO St. Luke’s church on May 24.
The Music Department of Trevecca Nazarene University presents a program entitled “Bravo Beethoven III”, featuring the Choral Union, Madrigalians and Symphony Orchestra, Thursday, April 24, 7:30 pm at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. The choral ensembles will perform Beethoven’s “Ninth Symphony” and “Choral Fantasy”, featuring TNU Music Professor, Dr. Paul Christianson. In addition, the Madrigalians and TSO will join with harp artist/songwriter, Timbre, in performing the premiere of “Day Boy: Photogen Sees the Moon” from her soon to be released double disc album, “Sun and Moon”.
— “Ensemble 1720,” an MTSU School of Music faculty period-instrument group, will perform Baroque chamber music in a special free community concert set for Sunday, May 4, at 7 p.m. at Murfreesboro’s St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
St. Paul’s is located at 315 E. Main St., just three blocks south of the Public Square and less than two miles from the MTSU campus.
The Ensemble 1720 musicians play string and wind instruments in use during the Baroque era, the 17th- and early 18th-century period when Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and their colleagues created their masterpieces.
