Jazz Artist Series at MTSU

Join the MTSU Blues Crusade alumni as they celebrate their first ever Alumni Jazz Jam on Feb. 13.

Members of the MTSU Blues Crusade from the 1970s through recent years will come together to perform under the directorship of Dr. John Duke, founder of the MTSU jazz program, as well as Jamey Simmons and Don Aliquo.

The event will be held at Hinton Hall and will begin at 7:30 p.m.

RoseOnVibes Quintet

Join the RoseOnVibes Quintet as they welcome Nashville visitors on Valentine's weekend at the Starbucks stage in the Nashville Airport.

They will be playing from noon to 2 p.m. on Feb. 13. Attendees will enjoy jazz standards with a kick and African music jazzed up. There will be plenty of room for audience participation on hand percussion instruments from around the world.

Tap into Jazz Benefit

Jazz saxophonist and Nashville native, Marcus Johnson will be the featured musician at the Tap into Jazz Benefit on Feb. 7

A non-profit, youth organization that uses scuba diving as a vehicle to build confidence and spark an interest in science is partnering with acclaimed Jazz Saxophonist Marcus Johnson to host this benefit concert.

Big Band Jazz will ring out at the Wright Music Building on the MTSU Campus, Friday, February 13, at 7:30 PM. The occasion will be the Celebration of 40 Years of Big Band Jazz at MTSU. Three big bands, composed of students who participated in MTSU jazz ensembles from 1973 to 2014 will perform under the direction of 

George Shearing's Holiday Set On Piano Jazz

British jazz pianist George Shearing was a friend and frequent guest on Piano Jazz. On this special edition of the program from 2001, Shearing joins host Marian McPartland to celebrate the holidays in a jazzy way.

The two reminisce about seasons gone by and perform traditional and contemporary holiday tunes, including "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and "Away In A Manger."
