Blue Raider Football Loses Key Player for the Season

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Middle Tennessee coach Rick Stockstill says senior running back Benny Cunningham will miss the rest of the season after hurting his left knee in last weekend's win at FIU.

Results of Cunningham's MRI exam came back Monday, and Stockstill says Cunningham will have surgery by the end of this week.

Men and Women Enjoy Record Season

MT Basketball Hoping for NCAA Tourney Nod

MURFREESBORO, Tenn (WMOT)  --  A heartbreaking defeat Tuesday afternoon for Lady Raider’s basketball.  The MT women suffered a cliff-hanger, single-point loss to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

The 71-70 defeat ended the team's winning streak at 20 games and dashed their hopes for a seventh Sun Belt Tournament title. The men’s team was knocked out of the tournament in the first round. 

While post season play hasn’t panned out well for Blue Raiders basketball, at least so far, MTSU spokesman Mark Owens said fans couldn’t have asked for a better year.

Lady Raiders Play FIU Today

MTSU Men Knocked Out of Sun Belt Tourney

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A shocking loss Sunday for the Middle Tennessee State men’s basketball team. The number-one seeded Blue Raiders fell to number-nine seed Arkansas State 64 to 61.

The MT men will now have to wait till March 11 to hear about a spot on the NCAA tournament bracket. 

The Lady Raiders faired much better in Sun Belt Tournament action over the weekend. Middle Tennessee beat back a late rally by Western Kentucky to defeat the Lady Toppers 65-57 in Hot Springs, Ark.
