One Dead in Murfreesboro Drive-By Shooting

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  Murfreesboro Police are investigating a deadly drive-by shooting that left one man dead early Monday morning.

Police say that just after midnight several shots were fired into a wedding celebration taking place in the front yard of a home near the intersection of East Chestnut Street and North Academy Street.

One man was killed in the incident. Police say he’s from Alabama, but haven’t released a name pending notification of the family. No other deaths or injuries have been reported at this point.

Possible Road Rage Incident Results in One Death

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Murfreesboro Police believe road rage may be responsible for a fatal crash on Broad near Singer Road. The crash took place just after sunrise Friday morning.

Witnesses are telling police that a Ford truck and a white ”Oldsmobile type car” traveling north on Broad appeared to be engaged in a conflict and were driving erratically.

Fall Football Season Underway in Mid-State

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The fall football season got underway Thursday night here in Middle Tennessee, with several mid-state teams starting the season at home.

The New Orleans Saints took no chances in their final pre-season game, resting all starters in a 10-6 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Marcus Lattimore ran for two touchdowns and Connor Shaw ran for 92 yards while playing the second half with an injured shoulder as No. 9 South Carolina rallied for a 17-13 victory against Vanderbilt. Lattimore scored the go-ahead TD on a 1-yard run with 11:25 to go.

More Concerns Raised About Election Irregularities

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP/WMOT) — Democratic leaders are asking for a delay in certifying the August primary results after reports that voting machines in Davidson County defaulted to the Republican primary ballot.

A letter was sent to Secretary of State Tre Hargett Wednesday by the entire Democratic state legislative leadership. The letter states "voting apparatus should never default to one party or another" and calls for a full investigation.
