1 killed, 2 injured after police pursuit ends in crash

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — One person has been killed and two others have been injured after a police pursuit ended in a crash in Rutherford County.

Media outlets report the crash happened early Sunday in Murfreesboro.

Rutherford County Sheriff's spokeswoman Lisa Marchesoni says in a statement that a deputy tried to pull over a vehicle for speeding, but the driver continued down the road at speeds of more than 130 mph.

Officials say the pursuit ended  when the driver lost control, rolled the vehicle and slammed into an embankment.

Tennessee Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Travis Plotzer says all three occupants were ejected, including one who died. The other two occupants were taken to a hospital with critical injuries.

The identities of the people involved in the crash haven't been released.

An investigation continues.
