2014 Bill of Rights Celebration

ACLU-TN will be honoring Tom Negri with the Benjamin S. Pressnell Bill of Rights Award at Montgomery Bell Academy on Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m.

A tireless champion of social justice, diversity and inclusion, Tom Negri’s leadership with campaigns for the fair treatment of immigrants and his commitment to equality and fairness for all have impacted and inspired countless Tennesseans.

Van Jones will deliver the keynote address. Van appears on CNN's Crossfire and is the president and co-founder of Rebuild the Dream, a “think tank” that pushes for change on pressing issues, including excessive incarceration. A best-selling author and attorney, he has worked for social, economic, racial and environmental justice for over 20 years.

Jonell Mosser will be there to give a special performance. Jonell combines raw power with the finesse of jazz, folk, and southern soul. As a member of the Freedom Singers, she has toured the country performing songs that were once banned or censored to highlight the importance of our often-embattled right to free speech.
