$225,000 raised in 48 hours for family of Blue Angels pilot who crashed in Smyrna

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  More than 225,000 has been raised for the wife and children of the Blue Angels pilot who died this past week in Smyrna.

In just two days a Go Fund Me account set up in the name of the family of Marine Captain Jeff Kuss has received donations from nearly 2800 individuals. The money will go to Captain Kuss’ wife, Christina, and his two small children, four-year-old Calvin and one-year-old Sloane.

The Daily News Journal reports the donation account was initiated by Kuss’ sister-in-law and has a goal of $500,000.

Other fundraisers are also in progress. Local media report more than a 1,000 people gathered in Murfreesboro Sunday night to honor Captain Kuss.

Kuss crashed near the Smyrna airport on Thursday. The mishap is under investigation. The Blue Angels were in the mid-state to participate in the Great Tennessee Air Show.
