AAA says gas prices will likely continue to fall through the end of the year

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  Gas prices have fallen dramatically in recent weeks and AAA says they may fall still further between now and the end of the year.

Gasbuddy.com reports stations here in Murfreesboro are selling a gallon of regular gasoline today for $1.89.  AAA says the current average price statewide is $2.09, down 23 cents in the past month.

AAA’s Stephanie Milani says falling oil prices and strong production are pushing prices lower. She says demand will likely fall now as the summer travel season ends putting even more downward pressure on prices.

“We will continue to see that decline in demand thru the end of the year. But right now the good news is that people are saving between $15 and $25 every time they fill up their tank.”

Chattanooga currently has the state’s cheapest fuel on average at $1.93 per gallon. Memphis and Nashville are tied for the highest average price in the state, standing today at $2.18 for a gallon of unleaded regular.
