Another Obamacare insurer abandons the Tennessee market

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Insurance Commissioner Julie Mix McPeak's predictions about the collapse of Obamacare in Tennessee have turned out to be prophetic.

Following the withdrawal of Blue Cross Blue Shield from the Tennessee market last year, McPeak announced that the ACA was "on the verge of collapse."

The Tennessean reported Thursday that Humana has now also announced that it will drop out of the insurance exchange, leaving its 79,000 Tennessee customers without policies next year.

That leaves healthcare policies by Cigna as the only remaining option for people living in the Nashville and Memphis areas. People living in the Knoxville area won’t have any Obamacare policy choices in 2018.
