ANOTHER winter storm watch for Middle Tennessee

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  Mid-state highways were in better shape Thursday, but many schools are still closed and Middle Tennesse could see more bad weather Friday.

Most area schools were closed again Thursday morning and many have already canceled classes for tomorrow as well.

Most universities in the region re-open today, Middle Tennessee State among them. But Austin Peay State is closed today, along with Columbia State, Tennessee Tech, and Volunteer State. Motlow will open two hours late.

Middle Tennessee Electric had just 53 customers without power Thursday morning. Nashville Electric was working to restore power to about 800 homes in the Pennington Bend area.

Nashville International Airport was showing just one flight cancellation through noon, much improved from earlier in the week.

There’s a wind chill advisory in effect Thursday morning and there’s a Winter Storm Watch in effect for Friday.

Here’s that mid-state forecast:

Sunny but cold Thursday with a high near 20 degrees.

Cloudy skies and a low in the teens Thursday night.

A chance of snow and sleet Friday with a high just below freezing.

We could see snow, sleet or rain Friday night.

Saturday we finally get back above freezing with a high then in the upper 40s.

Rain is likely Saturday night. A good chance of rain Sunday.

Another cold snap and snow back in the forecast beginning Monday.
