Armed robbery reported on the MTSU campus

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  For the second time in less than a month an armed assault has occurred on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.

At a little past 7:30 p.m. Friday evening students, staff and faculty received notice a campus wide alert had been issued. The alert noted that an armed robbery had occurred at the Scarlett Commons campus apartments.

The warning advised students to avoid the area and report any suspicious activity to campus police. Thirty-five minutes later a second advisory was issued, this time urging Scarlet Commons residents to remain indoors.

Back on September 12, a pair of female students reported an attempted robbery at gunpoint on Alumni near the ball fields. The women told police the attempt was interrupted when a large group of students happened by and scared their assailants away.

There was a shots fired incident on the MTSU Campus back in late July.
