Attempted home invasion in Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A Murfreesboro couple tell police they managed to stop a home invasion at their front door.

Braydville Pike residents Hayley Patton and Josh Chapell say they were awakened before dawn Monday morning by someone knocking on their apartment door.

Chapell says when he looked out the front door’s peep hole, he couldn’t see anyone, but opened the door a crack for a second look.

When he did, the report says a white male stuck both hands through the opening and tried to force his way inside. Patton and Campbell both began pushing back, while the man yelled that he was one of their neighbors.

The suspect finally gave up and fled. Patton describes the man as a white male standing 5’11” with short sandy hair. He was wearing tan pants but no shirt.

Police discovered a drop of blood just outside the door they suspect may be the suspects.

If you have any information on this case, call Murfreesboro Crime Stoppers at 893-STOP. That’s 893-7867.
