Baroque Violinist Rebecca Cole and Friends to Perform "Mostly French" Program March 16th

Rebecca Cole, Nashville baroque violinist, will be joined by other Nashville baroque musicians to perform a period-instrument concert – “Mostly French” - on March 16th, 2015, at 7:30PM, Ward Hall, Lipscomb University. The concert features music of French or French-influenced composers, from throughout the baroque period. Baroque violinists Rebecca Cole and Allison Nyquist, and baroque oboist Jared Hauser will be joined by Chris Stenstrom on baroque cello and Polly Brecht on harpsichord.

The program includes a trio sonata for two violins by Elizabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, a sonata for “Two Violins without Bass” by Jean-Marie LeClair, along with two trio sonatas for oboe and violin by Jean-Baptiste Loeillet (John of London). “Concerto Comique Le Mirliton,” written by Michel Corrette, a humorous piece for three treble instruments and basso continuo, will complete the program. Jacquet de la Guerre, LeClair, and Corrette were all leading French composers of their times. Loeillet (John of London) was a Flemish composer who moved to London, and became a prominent performer on several instruments.

This concert is free and open to the public. For more information about the concert, please email rcole1770@gmail.com or check out www.facebook.com/Rebecca Cole
