Barry and Fox face September 10 runoff election

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  The Nashville mayor’s race is headed for a September runoff.

WSMV-TV says candidates Megan Barry and David Fox will face each other  in a runoff election September 10.

With all precincts reporting Barry earned 24,449 votes, while Fox picked up 23,711 votes.

Bill Freeman, who spent $4.5 million dollars of his own money on the campaign, came in third with just over 22,000 votes.

If she wins election, Barry would be the first woman and the first Metro Council member to serve as mayor of Nashville.

David Briley will be Nashville’s new Vice Mayor. He defeated Tim Garrett by more than 5,000 votes.
