MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- Music legend Barry Gibb of Bee Gees fame will be in Middle Tennessee later this month for a unique appearance.
Gibb will be the guest of the Recording Industry Management program at Middle Tennessee State University on Monday, October 28.
Gibb accepted an invitation to visit the school from Sound engineer and MTSU Assistant Professor John Merchant. Merchant has toured with Gibb for years as part of his concert sound production team.
“What he’s coming to do, is something I don’t think he’s ever done before, which is a live interview, in front of a live audience. It’s free and open to the public. He will be taking questions, but not only will he be doing the interview but he’ll also be performing.”
Merchant says Gibb will be accompanied only by a guitarist and keyboardist, another first for the famed singer, songwriter and producer.
The interview and performance will begin at 7 p.m. in Tucker Theater on the MTSU campus. The theater holds just under a thousand people, so Merchant suggests Gibb fans show up early to get a seat.
While he’s here in Middle Tennessee Gibb will also reportedly put in appearances at the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry.
