MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) -- A mid-state athlete who suffered a severe brain injury during a high school football game this past fall is headed home Wednesday.
The family of Baylor Bramble announced yesterday that the 16-year-old Siegel High student has recovered sufficiently to be released from a rehab facility and allowed to return home.
Baylor Bramble suffered a severe brain injury during a football game last October as Siegel High played Warren County High. He left the game telling the coach he had a bad headache. Later that night he was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center by a Life Flight helicopter.
Bramble was in a coma for some time and needed a ventilator to breath for months. The family says a trach tube was removed in March.
A blog on the website of the Northside Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, where Bramble’s father is a minister, has provided regular updates on the boy’s recovery.
Citing God’s goodness, the family announced Tuesday that Baylor Bramble would be permitted to return home.
