Beegie Adair finds "The Common Thread" with Allen Farnham

Next time on Improvised Thoughts with Beegie Adair, we spend the hour with Allen Farnham.  He's a New York-based pianist, composer/arranger and producer.  Alongside his own projects he's a highly regarded accompanist for singers (Mel Torme, Ernestine Anderson, Mark Murphy, Liza Minnelli, Susannah McCorkle, Roseanna Vitro, and Helen Merrill), and is well known for his thoughtful direction & production of other musicians' recordings (Charlie Byrd, Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria, Lew Tabackin, Chris Potter, Buddy DeFranco and Jack McDuff).
This program was first heard in 1995 at the time when his critically acclaimed "The Common Thread" had just been released.  The CD featured Joe Lovano (NOT a household name at that time), bassist Drew Gress & Jamey Haddad-drums.  Of the 10 songs offered on the CD, 4 of them were Allen Farnham compositions.  We'll hear one of those as well as interpretations of songs by Ralph Towner, Steve Swallow & Duke Ellington.
Join us for some good music and conversation with Allen Farnham on the next Improvised Thoughts with Beegie Adair.  The show airs on 89.5FM WMOT and streaming live on www.wmot.org .
