NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WMOT) -- The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee hopes to top last year’s $1.5 million Big Payback during its second annual fundraiser.
The Big Payback is opportunity for mid-state residents to donate online toward the work of their favorite charities. Last year the Big Payback raised money for 525 mid-state non-profits. This year 755 charities are signed up to participate.
Rebecca Finley speaks for the foundation.
“It’s really important that our community realizes the value that each of these non-profits brings to our community. There’s so much work being done in the non-profit community. This is our day to elevate those non-profits and help them raise more money to address the ongoing needs in our community.”
Finley says to encourage contributions, The Community Foundationwill kick in $240,000 in matching donations. She also notes that an anonymous donor will insure that every participating charity will receive a contribution toward their work.
The Big Paybackwill last a full 24 hours and will kick off at midnight May 5.
