Blue Raiders Look to Rebound from Tough 2011 Season

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (HUBBARD)  --  MTSU football will look to rebound from last year’s tough season when they take the field at Floyd Stadium Thursday tonight.

The Blue Raiders finished the 2011 season with a 2-10 record, giving up an average of 37 points a game.

Head coach Rick Stockstill shook things up in the spring when he brought in former SEC defensive coordinator Tyrone Nix to lend a hand.

Despite the defensive changes, starting quarterback Logan Kilgore says the offensive scheme will remain much the same.

“We’re going to have a much more down-hill running game scheme, things like that, but overall, passing wise and everything else, is going to be pretty similar.”

Kilgore passed for more than 2,200 yards and had 18 touchdowns last season. This year he’ll lead a mix of veteran and young receivers.

MT will host McNeese State to kick off the season tonight. You can hear the game on WMOT Thursday tonight at 6:30 a.m.
