MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT) - The Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders launched their move to Conference USA with a decisive win Thursday night.
The Raiders thumped the Western Carolina Catamounts 45-24 in front of just over 20,000 fans at Floyd Stadium.
The season opening victory was marred by a troubling injury. Third year Quarterback Logan Kilgore left the game early with a shoulder injury. The team isn’t saying yet whether Kilgore will be ready for next week’s contest.
Before he left the game, Kilgore completed 12-of-18 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown. Backup QB Austin Grammer finished out the game.
Middle Tennessee returns to action next Saturday with a visit to North Carolina. The game is set for 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning and will air on the ACC Network.
