Last Thursday we had Michael Samis (former Nashville Symphony Cellist, Co-Principal cellist of the Gateway Chamber Orchestra and member of the Nashville Opera Orchestra) in along with MTSU’s Grammy winning RIM audio engineer John Hill (one of his recording engineers) to talk about his brand new Delos compact disc featuring a premier recording of the Carl Reinecke Cello Concerto in D minor, Op. 82. This is a find that he is taking across the country as a solo artist. He and John talked about the recording and then they went over to the Recording Industry Studio B to record several movements of the J.S. Bach Unaccompanied Cello Suite in D minor. He did that for a recording industry class that also got to hear a variety of microphones and analyze their strengths in weakness in recording acoustic cello. WMOT will present the interview, the Reinecke recording and the Bach studio recordings on Thursday, October 2nd at 1:06 p.m. on WMOT-FM and our Short Mountain repeater station (89.5 fm and 92.5 fm). the
Delos CD is being distributed by Naxos Records, just up the road in Franklin.
