Cheatham County Schools counselor called "hero" after gun incident

PLEASANT VIEW, Tenn. (AP) — A Cheatham County middle-school counselor is being called a hero after talking a teenager into handing over a loaded handgun.

The 14-year-old boy reportedly asked to speak with counselor Molly Hudgens, saying she was the only one who could talk him out of it his plan to kill teachers. Cheatham County Sheriff Mike Breedlove says that’s exactly what she did.

The boy handed over the gun after talking for 45 minutes and has now been jailed on charges of possessing a gun and making threats.
