Closing arguments expected today in the Vanderbilt rape trial

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Closing arguments in the rape trial of two former Vanderbilt football players will likely begin today.

Throughout the trial, jurors have seen graphic videos and photos of the alleged sexual assault of an unconscious 21-year-old student. The video footage and photos were recovered by police from a laptop and cell phones.

The alleged victim testified that she has no memory of what happened.

Brandon Vandenburg and Corey Batey are charged with five counts of aggravated rape and two counts of aggravated sexual battery. Vandenburg faces additional charges of unlawful photography and tampering with evidence.

Prosecutors say they and two of their former teammates took part in the sexual assault in a dorm room on the Nashville campus in June of 2013.

All four players have pleaded not guilty.
