Dangerously hot weather this week in the mid-state

NOAA

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  The National Weather Service is warning that it’s going to be dangerously hot in the mid-state for much of the week.

The Weather Service office in Nashville says the mid-state can expect afternoon temperatures in the mid to upper 90s through at least Thursday. High humidity means Middle Tennessee will see heat index, or “feels like” temperatures up to 105 degrees.

Tuesday and Wednesday are likely to be the most dangerous days. Meteorologist Matt Reagan says the Weather Service may issue a heat advisory beginning Tuesday.

Reagan offers a few precautions.

“For people who are going to be outside, they need to take it easy. Make sure you drink plenty of water. If you can avoid the hottest part of the day, do so but we know that isn’t always possible. For those who can’t, take frequent breaks and stay hydrated.”

Reagan says we should see slightly cooler temperatures Friday, but also says the change could be accompanied by some strong storms.
