Documenting hate in Middle Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (OSBORNE)  --  Media outlets here in Tennessee and around the country are asking for the public's help investigating hate crimes.

The partnership, led by the ProPublica and including most of Tennessee's major newspapers, has set up an online form where the public can file reports on hate incidents. Participating media will send reporters out to look at those incidents.

In an article about the partnership out today, the Tennessean notes that only 275 bias incidents were reported by police departments state wide last year. The partnering agencies believe hate crimes are being underreported.

You can report bias incidents here. There's also a Spanish language version of the form.
