Duo Damiana to Present a Flute and Guitar Recital September 9th

Duo Damiana is focused on broadening the cutting-edge repertoire for flute and guitar.  In the summer of 2014, the duo mentored 97 young composers at the Oregon Bach Festival Composers Symposium and performed at the National Flute Association Convention in Chicago.  Its 2014-15 season includes tours through Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, Indiana and Illinois.

Called “ferociously talented” (Oregonian). Grammy Award-winning flutist Molly Alicia Barth has recently performed in Australia, Korea, and Mexico and has given solo recitals and led clinics at Indiana University Jacobs School fo Music, Oberlin Conservatory and elsewhere.  She is associate professor of flute at the University of Oregon and is a member of the Oregon Wind quintet.

The Musical endeavors of Dieter Hennings range from new music on guitar to early music for lute, baroque guitar and theorbo.  His recent engagements include concerts with pop singer Natalie Merchant and baroque violinist Monica Huggett and appearances at the Mexican Embassy in Rome; Festival SpazioMusica of Cagliari ad New York’s Joyce Theatre.

The concert will take place on Tuesday, September 9th at 8:00 p.m. in the T. Earl Hinton Music Hall of the Wright Music Building on the MTSU campus.  The program will include works by David Lang, Toru Takemitsu, Michael Fiday and Herbert Vazquez.
