Ex-Tennessee CB Williams' trial rescheduled for Oct. 26

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The rape trial of former Tennessee cornerback Michael Williams has been rescheduled to Oct. 26.

Williams' trial was slated to begin Sept. 29, but Knox County Criminal Court Judge Bob McGee granted the defense's motion for a continuance.

Williams and former Tennessee linebacker A.J. Johnson each face two counts of aggravated rape. Knoxville police say the incident occurred during a party at an apartment in the early morning of Nov. 16.

Johnson's trial is scheduled for June 27.

Williams originally was set to go on trial Aug. 24, but it was moved back so lawyers for Williams and Johnson could obtain cellphone and social media communications with certain witnesses. It was rescheduled again because all those communications haven't been acquired yet.
