Father Charged with Murder after Daughter's Death

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities have charged a Middle Tennessee man with murder 22 years after he beat his infant daughter causing injuries that an autopsy says led to her death last year.

The Daily News Journal reports that 41-year-old Anthony Shannon Lane was charged Monday in the death of Amanda Michelle Lane-Woodall, who died last year at age 22.

According to a statement, Rutherford County cold case Detective Sgt. Dan Goodwin and Detective Steve Kohler questioned multiple doctors and other witnesses before presenting the case to the district attorney's office.

An autopsy by the state medical examiner's office found that Lane-Woodall died from complications of blunt-force head injury inflicted by a beating when she was 5 weeks old.
