CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A suspicious envelope that caused the partial evacuation of Clarksville's Federal Building on Monday turned out to be empty.
The FBI's assistant special agent in charge at the Nashville office, Keith Moses, said U.S. Rep. Marsha Blackburn actually received two suspicious envelopes this week — the one to her Clarksville office and another to her Williamson County office.
One was turned over to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the other was secured by the FBI. Both were empty, and Moses said they posed no threat to the Republican congresswoman, her staff or the public.
Moses said the envelopes were deemed suspicious based on law enforcement guidelines of things to watch out for, such as no return address, excessive postage and misspelled words.
