FRANKLIN, Tenn. (AP) — A federal court judge has ordered the Williamson County school system to re-enroll a 19-year-old student who was forced to leave school because of a medical condition.
The Tennessean is reporting that U.S. District Judge John Nixon said the student, who had been away for almost two years because of his health, can return to class and get his high school diploma.
Connor Scott was forced to leave school because of epileptic seizures. His parents filed a lawsuit against the school district saying their son got better but the school system refused to let him go back. The system has policies for people older than 18 who want to get a diploma.
Nixon ordered the school district to evaluate Scott under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
