Find Out How One Becomes a Sherpa on The World for 4-25-14

PRI's The World - with Host Marco Werman

Holding out for an African superhero. Hang on, we'll get back to that.

First, tensions are still running high in eastern Ukraine. We're going to check in with Kiev, and also hear about what, exactly, the Russians have when it comes to military might in the region.

Plus, as some climbers leave Everest in the wake of a massive avalanche that killed 16 Sherpas, we ask some curiosity questions. What exactly is a Sherpa? How does a person get the title?

Cartoonist Ralph Steadman...if you're a fan of Hunter S. Thompson, you know that Steadman's the man behind the splattery mad drawings in books like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. We've got a nice juicy interview with Steadman, who is subject of a new movie that comes out today in the US.

And speaking of cartoons, let's get back to Superafrican. He's the main character in a new comic book dreamed up by Kenyan musician Sila. We'll talk to Sila about the comic, and also sample some tunes from the CD that Sila recorded to go with it. A perfect way to start your weekend!
