May 27, 2014

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A late night, four alarm fire has destroyed a North Murfreesboro family’s home.

When fire crews arrived at the home on Overhill Court last night at around 9 p.m. they found the back of the house fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters entered the home, but were quickly pushed back out again as the fire spread through the attic.

MFD spokesman Daryl Alexander says the home was extensively damaged, with the roof completely destroyed.

The home’s family of six were all safely out of the house when fire crews arrived, but a firefighter did rescue a family pet from a bedroom. The Red Cross is providing temporary housing.

Investigators will be back at the home this morning to try to determine the cause of the blaze.
