Heat, humidity prompts Hazardous Weather Advisory

NWS

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  If recent weather seems unusually hot to you, even for Middle Tennessee in late July, the Weather Service says you’re not imagining things.

Nashville based Weather Service meteorologist Matt Reagan says it’s been unusually hot and sticky

“Average high this time of year for Nashville and the surrounding area is 89 (degrees). So, we’ve been hovering in the low 90s, and on the hot days even up into the mid-90s. So we have been running a few degrees above normal,” he said.

Reagan says the extended forecast isn’t offering hope of any relief. The mid-state can expect more of the same for at least the next ten days or so.

“Hot and humid.  Maybe early next, starting about next Monday, we will get some more activity as far as afternoon showers and Thunderstorms. But as far as the heat, it won’t provide a whole lot of relief,” he said.

The Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather advisory (copied below) for the next few days. Temperatures will remain in the 90s and high humidity will push the heat index into triple figures.
