MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) — The nonprofit Alive Hospice has announced that it will be opening a new facility in Rutherford County.

The Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency approved an application for the charity to begin working toward a June 2016 opening of a free-standing facility in Murfreesboro.

Alive Hospice currently provides care for terminally ill patients and grief support services in Rutherford County, but CEO AnnaGene O’Neal says the new facility will be available for patients needing a more intensive level of hospice care.

“Often times, our patients end up having some more acute needs than otherwise can be managed at home, or families are comfortable managing at home, for patients at the end of life.”

It will be Rutherford County's first facility with dedicated beds for inpatient adult and pediatric hospice care, respite hospice care and residential hospice care.

Founded in 1975, Alive Hospice provides 24/7 personalized care in 12 Middle Tennessee counties.
