How Do Tennesseans Feel About Their Public Schools?

WMOT News bringing you results from the latest MTSU Poll each day this week.

MTSU surveyed 640 Tennesseans by phone, taking their pulse on political, social and economic issues.

One of the poll’s most interesting findings has to do with the way Tennesseans feel about their local schools and teachers.

Poll Director, Dr. Ken Blake, says state education concerns have been much in the news lately, so he wanted to probe resident's opinions on the subject.

Where school satisfaction is concerned, Blake says geography seems to be the deciding factor.

According to poll responses, residents of Middle and East Tennessee are mostly happy with public schools. Schools in the counties surrounding Nashville get the highest marks.

Residents of West Tennessee are not satisfied with their public schools.
