How does your local Tenn. community college rank nationwide?

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A new study ranks 800 of the nation’s two year public colleges and Tennessee’s schools did not fare especially well.

WMOT reporting partner Wallethub.com says Tennessee ranked 30 among the 50 states. The highest ranking individual school was East Tennessee's Roane State at position 110.  Columbia State, located here in Middle Tennessee, ranked 124.

Wallethub’s Jill Gonzalez says that, while Tennessee’s two-year schools failed to score in the top ten percent, the state and Gov. Haslam do get high marks for leading the charge in the college-for-all movement.

“So that’s the thing we’re going to see states like California, Illinois, Oklahoma, and about ten other states really plan to join the band wagon by 2020. Tennessee is one of the states that is already doing that.

Gonzalez says Wallethub figured the rankings by measuring 12 key metrics, including tuition costs, student-to-teacher ratios, and graduation rates.
