How Microbes Might Feed the World and Tim Howard's Goalkeeping on The World for 7-2

Greetings from the newsroom in Boston.

One of our ongoing projects here at The World is to examine international security issues through the eyes of millennials around the globe. Middle East expert Juan Cole has just written a new book on the topic called The New Arabs: How the Millennial Generation is Changing the Middle East. Carol and Juan chat about what he found out about the hopes and frustrations of the youth activists of the so-called Arab Spring.

Also today, how microbes might help us feed the planet. And a cookbook author who writes about the special flavor and uses of tamarind, a staple of Syrian Jewish cuisine still enjoyed in the diaspora.

Plus, a monster jellyfish invasion in Norway. We'll hear why it matters and what can be done about it.

And our soccer guru William Troop brings us his take on Tim Howard's goalkeeping prowess and looks ahead to the rest of the World Cup.
