RCSO

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  A thirteen year-old boy was killed by a hit-and-run driver Monday afternoon on westbound I-24 in Smyrna near the Sam Ridley Parkway exit.

WSMV-TV says 13 year-old Clifton Braunwaler was rushed to nearby StoneCrest Medical Center where he died. His mother, 47 year-old Sondra Braunwalder was also taken to StoneCrest with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have charged 33 year-old Tina L. Wilson with leaving the scene of a fatal crash and failure to report a fatal crash. Officials say she’ll likely face additional charges. Toxicology tests are being performed.

A witness to the accident followed Wilson into Davidson County and alerted police to her location. She was arrested and booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention facility.

Clifton and Sondra Braunwalder were struck while trying to change a flat tire. Clifton’s 12 year-old sister Louann was also present but wasn’t injured.
