I-65 closed at Goose Creek Bypass this weekend

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  Interstate 65 at the Goose Creek Bypass in Franklin will be closed this weekend, as construction crews continue repairs on a bridge damaged last year in the fiery crash of a fuel tanker.

Traffic will be diverted to the on and off ramps at St. Rt. 248 to get around the closure. The southbound lanes will be closed Saturday from 6 a.m. till just after lunch. The northbound lanes will be closed Sunday on the same schedule.

St. Rt. 248 will be closed both days at the overpass to allow for continuous flow of traffic off and back on the interstate.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation says the detour will likely cause lengthy delays on I-65.

The project is weather-dependent. Closure times could change if bad weather interrupts work. You can get updates by dialing 511 from any phone, or visit the Tennessee SmartWay websiteonline.
