Ice Storm Warning in effect through Saturday morning

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WMOT)  --  An Ice Storm Warning is now in effect in Middle Tennessee, the second such storm warning this week.

Meteorologist Bobby Boyd of the Nashville Weather Service says the warning will continue through 9 a.m. Saturday morning.

“And we’re looking at one to two inches of snow. That will be followed by a tenth to a quarter inch of ice. We’re looking for quite a bit of ice on top of what we’ve already had on the trees and power lines, so this could be a significant event.”

The mid-state should get above freezing for the first time in nearly a week Saturday morning, but the weather threat will continue. Boyd says the new system will continue to pump moisture into the region.

“We’re looking at an inch and a half of rain all total for Saturday night, so we could be looking at some localized flooding.”

Boyd says there isn’t much relief in the extended forecast. We drop back below freezing on Sunday. We’ll see lows in the teens again Monday night.
