Introducing Intersection: Nashville's First-Ever Contemporary Ensemble Crowdfunding campaign now live, Debut season to premiere in 2015 December 4, 2014 -- NASHVILLE, TN -- The first of its kind in the region, Intersection has announced an inaugural 2015/16 season as Nashville's premiere avant garde ensemble. Currently in the initial stages of a crowdfunding campaign, the organization is reaching out to the local community via Indiegogo to fund its first season. The campaign ends on December 29th. Intersection was founded by Kelly Corcoran, director of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra Chorus and founder of Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra. The ensemble also appointed an Artistic Advisory Council comprised of music community pillars Bela Fleck, Marin Alsop, Jennifer Higdon, Richard Danielpour, Tony Fogg
and Tracy Silverman. The concept for Instersection was born from Corcoran’s desire to bring a contemporary music ensemble to Nashville. Intersection is comprised of 15 to 20 players and will offer two debut programs in the Spring of 2015. The 2015/16 season will be Intersection’s first full season with four different programs, two of which are specifically designed for family audiences to foster childhood interest in contemporary music. With a focus on challenging the traditional concert experience, Intersection's first performance is scheduled for March 26, 2015 at The Platform and will blend the best of the local artistic community with original choreography by New Dialect, visual artwork curated by Zeitgeist Gallery and a bill featuring compositions by Arvo Part, Jonathan Harvey and more. |
