"It's Hamilton Time!" creator Jeff Hamilton on Improvised Thoughts with Beegie Adair

Improvised Thoughts with host Beegie Adair returns with legendary drummer/bandleader Jeff Hamilton!  From working in Lionel Hampton’s band, to becoming a member of the Monty Alexander Trio, joining Woody Herman's Thundering Herd, filling the drum seat vacated by Shelly Manne in the LA4 (alongside Ray Brown, Bud Shank, and Laurindo Almeida), to performing with such prestigious artists as Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, Mel Torme, Natalie Cole, Barbra Streisand, George Shearing, Lalo Schifrin, and Diana Krall, few jazz drummers have had careers as rewarding and successful as his.  This week's program was originally heard in 1995, the year Jeff Hamilton left the Ray Brown Trio to concentrate on his own trio and eventually The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra.  We focus on a terrific, hard-swinging trio he assembled that year, which included pianist Larry Fuller and bassist Jesse Murphy, as well as the new recording titled "It's Hamilton Time!" Indeed it is,  as Jeff Hamilton joins Beegie Adair for an hour of music and conversation on Improvised Thoughts.
