Judge Seals Court Filings in Vandy Rape Case

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A judge has issued an order sealing future documents filed in a rape case against four former Vanderbilt University football players.

The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/1kA76TL) reports Judge Monte Watkins said in the order on Monday that he will review the filings before making them public record.

The decision comes after prosecutors argued a previous filing violated the privacy of the woman who accused the former players of raping her.

During a hearing last week, Assistant District Attorney Jan Norman said defense attorneys violated the state's rape shield law when they filed a motion that contained what should have been private information.

Defense attorneys say they did nothing wrong, and that some of the information was public record.
