JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (AP) — Jurors have begun deliberating in the trial of a mother and daughter charged in a double slaying that prosecutors say was prompted by the younger woman being deleted as a friend on Facebook.
According to media reports, jurors resumed deliberations Tuesday in the case against 64-year-old Barbara Potter, and her daughter, 35-year-old Jenelle Potter.
The two are charged with murder in the 2012 slayings of 36-year-old Billy Payne and 23-year-old Billie Jean Hayworth, who were found dead inside their Johnson City home.
Assistant District Attorney General Dennis Brook says the killings happened after Jenelle Potter was "unfriended" by the couple on Facebook.
Marvin Potter, Jenelle Potter's father, is already serving two life sentences for the slayings. Defense attorneys in closings that prosecutors didn't prove the women were involved in the killings.
